WKU Successfully Holds Asian Games Volunteer Departure Ceremony

With no more than 30 days to go for the Hangzhou Asian Games, Wenzhou-Kean University hosted the Hangzhou Asian Games Volunteer Departure Ceremony and English Competition for the highly anticipated event on September 6. University leaders and exchange students Kean University were invited to participate.

Vice President Dr. Cary Anderson commenced his speech with the Asian Games slogan “heart to heart, @ future,” emphasizing that the Hangzhou Asian Games volunteers epitomize WKU as a world-class educational institution. Additionally, Dr. Anderson reiterated WKU’s commitment to offering a world-class education that is both academically high caliber and capable of transforming the world into a better place for all.

Following the speeches was the oath-taking ceremony for the event’s volunteers. Dr. Yan Xiaopeng, WKU’s Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee, then presented the red flag of the launch ceremony to volunteer representative Yuan Quandao.

“I am very happy to participate in such a meaningful event, in which I not only learned about the Asian Games, but also felt the grace of the volunteers of WKU,” said Benjamin, one of the exchange students from Kean USA. He also expressed his keen interest in exploring Sanyang Wetland and Jiushan Park, savoring Ougan and Changren wontons, and eagerly anticipating the dragon boat races.

The event was organized collaboratively by the Youth League Committee, the Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and Center for International Studies at Wenzhou-Kean University. Ms. Lin Yangfan, WKU’s Chief Financial Officer and President of the Wenzhou Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Dr. Haina Zhu, Dean of Student Affairs, and Mr. Hu Gangbo, Assistant Director of the Student Affairs Department and Secretary of the Youth League Committee of WKU.
